Meet The Movement Collective Team

Passionate about fitness, the instructors at the Movement Collective strive to bring high-quality workouts and positive well-being to the Kamloops community.

Kristen Pickell

Kristen Pickell

Owner and Co-Founder

Kristen Pickell, Owner of Movement Collective, is passionate about fitness and strives to bring high-quality workouts to the Kamloops community. Her classes focus on the cues for proper alignment and working toward the best movement for each body type because we aren't all made the same! Tailoring her fitness classes to all levels and infusing barre, strength training, pilates and yoga in one amazing workout!

With a B.A Hons in Theatre Dance, Pilates certified, Pre/Post Natal certified, and Master Trainer of Barre, Kristen conducts her own "in-house" teacher training at Movement Collective to educate the instructors in all areas of movement. Classes aren't limited to barre—We offer so much more at Movement Collective!

Kristen additionally spends her time as the Assistant Artistic Director at Nuance Dance Studio and the lead Dance Academy teacher at Brock Middle School. Both places allow Kristen to share her passion for dance while making dance accessible to as many kids in the Kamloops Community as possible.

What's Kristen's why? As a mom of 2 boys, she hopes to keep up with them for as long as possible, knowing one day they will outrun her, and she wants to be right behind them.

Geralyn Cormack

Geralyn Cormack

Co-Founder and Guest Instructor

Geralyn fell in love with barre after experiencing a class in NYC in 2012 and has not looked back since.

Following the birth of her son, she saw the need for a dedicated barre studio in Kamloops and, in partnership with Joey Alain and Kristen Pickell, opened BARRE Kamloops in November 2015. While she handed over the reins of ownership in 2022, you can still find her delivering the burn with spicy classes at the barre.

In addition to her barre certification, Geralyn is a certified spin and yoga instructor. You can find her at TRU, where she works as a Director of Development in the University Relations department.

Jenni Manninen

Jenni Manninen

Instructor

Always on the go between juggling kids and a full-time career in finance, Jenni couldn't imagine giving up the mic even after 5 years. Originally from Finland, she has called Kamloops home for over 10 years.

Jenni lives for seeing new faces that find their way into the Movement Collective community and thrives on the dedication of their long-term members. While nothing fills her cup more than the feeling after a good in-person class, Jenni loves the Virtual class option because she can share her passion for movement with her sister back home.

Jenni's favourite Movement Collective classes to teach are between SWEAT and BURN. When she's off the mat, catch Jenni riding her bike or on foot hiking the Kamloops hills with her four-legged sidekick, Molly.

Karlee Waight

Karlee Waight

Instructor

As a mom of two girls, group fitness instructor, and personal trainer who works in cardiology, Karlee loves finding quiet moments to read in her downtime. A believer in balance—Karlee also enjoys a good glass of Kamloops wine with friends!

Karlee's favourite class to teach at the Movement Collective are the CONNECT classes, which you can find mixed in on Thursday nights.

Katrina Alexander

Katrina Alexander

Instructor

Katrina started with Movement Collect as one of the first instructors hired at the studio when it was called Barre Kamloops.

A lover of fitness and dance from the beginning, Katrina has actively been involved in the Kamloops dance community for most of her life, even teaching dance for many years after her graduation.

Katrina's daughter Elle, who also adores dancing and doing workouts alongside her mom, was a Movement Collective regular assisting mom in teaching many baby-wear classes. Health and wellness are vital to Katrina's life, pushing her to make all her classes fun and empowering.

Katrina's favourite Movement Collective classes to teach are the BURN class. When she's not in the studio, you catch Katrina riding her bike or hiking the Kamloops hills and taking other fitness classes in the community.

Dana Koronko

Dana Koronko

Instructor

As someone who wears many hats, Dana goes by many titles every day. Wife, mom of 2, cookie decorator, certified spin and barre instructor, and dental hygienist alongside her dentist husband!

Dana grew up as a dancer, dabbling in everything from ballet to acro, and recognizes the importance movement plays in her mental health and general well-being movement. Dana can be found snuggling up to her kids in her spare time, reading stories, and watching movies.

Carmen Michaud

Carmen Michaud

Instructor

With a passion for connecting with people through movement and fitness, Carmen loves the connections she makes with her students at the Movement Collective in her BURN and SWEAT classes.

Carmen spends her time off the mat on the mic at K Spin Indoor Cycling Studio and brings the YKA community together through running, walking, and hiking as one of Kamloops' newest Lululemon Ambassadors. Carmen works full-time as a finance manager and, most importantly, as a mama to a busy toddler.

Nicola Kannegiesser

Nicola Kannegiesser

Instructor

Nicola has been involved in the fitness industry since 2004, starting her career as a personal trainer in North Vancouver before moving to Ontario, where she completed her Pilates Training with The Physical Mind Institute and Body Harmonics Pilates.

Over the next 9 years, Nicola worked closely with several Chiropractic and Sports Therapists helping clients reach their peak health and performance levels.

After moving to Edmonton in 2014, she decided to deepen her yoga practice by completing her 200RYT and Level 1 Meditation Teacher Training at Wellness Within. Finally making her way back to BC in 2018, Nicola enjoys working on her hobby farm, snowboarding, and paddleboarding all over the interior with her family.

Training and teaching at Movement Collective have been the perfect platform to learn this fun and challenging form of movement while also bringing in years of experience with her previous disciplines.

Ryan McFarlane

Ryan McFarlane

Instructor

As an instructor in the fitness community in one way or another since the age of 14, Ryan has built a life around a passion for teaching group fitness.

Currently, a teacher at both the Movement Collective and K Spin Indoor Cycling Studio, Ryan loves pushing his students through their self-imposed boundaries to test their new skills.

Emily Pugsley

Emily Pugsley

Instructor

Emily's passion for fitness began over 20 years ago after spending most of her life in a dance studio.

She fell in love with Barre in 2016 when she became a Pound Fitness instructor. Emily has recently received two Diplomas from the Canadian College of Performing Arts and completed her Barre certification in the fall of 2022.

When she's not sweating it out at the Movement Collective, she is either helping others look and feel their best as a Chanel Beauty specialist or sharing her joy of movement with the next generations at Nuance Dance Studio.

Emily can not wait to make you SWEAT and feel the BURN at the Movement Collective.

Paige Caswell

Paige Caswell

Instructor

With a degree majoring in theater and performing arts, Paige has never let the fact she is a cancer survivor slow her down.

Paige has found a new community within the Movement Collective that has been a vital resource and experience with Barre to help strengthen her body. Also an instructor at K Spin Indoor Cycling Studio and a makeup artist, Paige brings abundant energy to everything she does.

"I loveeeeeeeeee me some releves, so get ready to strengthen and burn those calves."
